Boeing Expands Inspection Scope for 737 MAX Production Defects

Boeing announced on October 12th that it has expanded its inspection scope for defects affecting the production of 737 Max aircraft.
Boeing discovered a new quality issue with the 737 MAX aircraft in August, involving supplier Spirit AeroSystems using an automatic drilling rig to drill improperly on the pressure bulkhead at the tail of the aircraft. Currently, Boeing has expanded the inspection scope to include hand drilling.
Boeing stated that it will continue to spend the necessary time to ensure that each aircraft meets standards and regulatory requirements before delivery.
