1월 7일 (현지 시각) 미국 연방항공청은 성명을 내고 이미 운항이 중단된 보잉 737 맥스 9형 여객기 171대가 해당 여객기가 안전 상태라는 것을 확인할 때까지 계속 운항을 중단할 것이라고 밝혔다.
