On November 26th, McDonald's China made its debut at the 2nd China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Chain Expo"). The McDonald's booth exhibition covers an area of nearly 200 square meters, focusing on smart supply chain and green agriculture. The exhibition content covers concepts and practices in the fields of smart supply chain, green agriculture, natural ingredients, food safety and quality.
It is worth mentioning that McDonald's China launched the green agriculture cultural and creative "Wheat Farm Calendar" at the exhibition site, vividly depicting the sincere feelings of 12 farmer partners participating in the "McDonald's China Regenerated Agriculture Plan" in the form of intangible cultural heritage farmer paintings, opening up a new window for the audience to understand McDonald's natural and good ingredients.
In 2023, McDonald's China partnered with nine major suppliers to launch the "McDonald's China Regenerative Agriculture Program", focusing on five major areas: nature, soil, water, livestock, and farmers, to promote the concept and practice of regenerative agriculture. Over the past year, McDonald's China has worked hand in hand with its supply chain upstream and downstream, achieving significant results. In 2024, through the McDonald's China Supply Chain Academy, McDonald's China trained nearly 5000 farmers, accelerating the enrichment of course content and expanding training coverage. Since its launch in June last year, the food traceability video dissemination platform "Maimai Farm" has visited 9 food production bases, launched 22 traceability live broadcasts and 25 traceability short videos. Within a year, the cumulative number of views has exceeded 34 million, allowing consumers to intuitively and vividly see the fresh, natural, and safe origin of good food ingredients.
McDonald's China CEO Zhang Jiayin said, "The long-term success of McDonald's relies on the strong support of its employees, franchisees, and suppliers in the 'three legged stool' business philosophy. McDonald's has been rooted in China for more than 30 years, always driven by the 'three legged stool' business philosophy, and cooperates with suppliers for win-win results. The Chain Expo provides a very good platform for us to deepen communication and exchange with the supply chain 'circle of friends', driven by innovation and cooperation, improve supply chain efficiency, enhance quality, and promote sustainable development, better serve restaurants and consumers, and allow more consumers to enjoy our fresh, natural, and reassuring good ingredients
McDonald's China purchases over 300 types of ingredients and raw materials annually, with over 95% being sourced locally. In 2023, McDonald's China supply chain supplied a total of 640000 tons of ingredients. This time, McDonald's China launched the green agriculture cultural and creative "Wheat Farm Calendar" at the Chain Expo, collecting typical stories of 12 farmer partners participating in McDonald's China's regenerative agriculture program.
McDonald's China Chief Impact Officer Gu Lei said, "The 'McDonald's Farm Calendar' provides consumers with a window to understand the joint commitment and efforts of McDonald's China, suppliers, and farmer partners behind natural and good ingredients. We adhere to a long-term approach, work together to promote regenerative agriculture and practices, provide consumers with fresh, natural, and reassuring ingredients, and let nature continue to thrive
Since entering the mainland Chinese market in 1990, McDonald's has supported the high-quality development of local industrial chains such as potatoes and chicken with industry-leading high quality and high standards. Now, in 2023, McDonald's China has launched the "McDonald's China Regenerative Agriculture Program" with nine major suppliers, accelerating the scale and systematic promotion of the concept and practice of regenerative agriculture. Over the past year, McDonald's China has worked together with suppliers and farmers to promote the concept and practice of regenerative agriculture, accelerate the development of green agriculture, and achieve fruitful results.
