US Treasury Secretary Yellen: Need to Properly Handle US China Relations

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called the US China relationship "one of the most important relationships in the world" on Thursday, saying "we need to handle this relationship correctly".  
Yellen said in a speech at the Asia Society on the Biden administration's Indo Pacific economic strategy that the United States does not seek to "decouple" from China. If Asia Pacific countries choose sides between China and the United States, it will have a "significant negative impact on a global scale".

During Yellen's tenure as US Treasury Secretary, he has visited South Korea, Japan, India, and other countries in the Indo Pacific region; Her speech highlighted the United States' plan to engage in more cooperation with some of China's neighboring countries.

The relationship between the United States and China remains tense, for example, the United States has implemented export controls on advanced technology, and China has taken stronger actions in the East China Sea and South China Sea.
