Microsoft is developing a replacement for Nvidia network cards, similar to Nvidia's ConnectX-7 network card. The development may take over a year. If successful, it can save money and also reduce the time OpenAI spends training AI models on Microsoft servers. In addition, Microsoft is also attempting to reduce its reliance on Nvidia in other AI development related products.
